Oh Emmeline!

Das ist er! Endlich! Der perfekte Schnitt für ein einfaches aber schickes Shirt, das nicht aus Jersey ist. Macht euch bereit für eine Menge Fotos!

That’s it! I finaly found the perfect pattern for a simple but chic woven shirt. Be prepared for a picture heavy post!

Wer meinen Me Made May verfolgt hat, hat evtl. meine zwei (bisher nicht hier gezeigten) Varianten vom Scout Tee gesehen, zum Beispiel hier oder hier. Ich finde Shirts aus gewebtem Stoff einfach super, weil sie deutlich mehr hermachen als normale T-Shirts aus Jersey und trotzdem super bequem sein können. Wie bereits erwähnt habe ich aber oft das Problem, dass Oberteil-Schnitte im Schulterbereich zu klein oder zu eng oder was auch immer sind, ich konnte es bisher nicht genau herausfinden. Jedenfalls kann ich meine Arme nicht so bewegen, wie ich es gerne würde. Das brachte mich dazu, das Emmeline Tee von Little Tailoress zu testen, denn es hat Raglanärmeln.

Those of you how followed me during Me Made May may have noticed my (yet unglogged) Scout Tees, look here or here if you’ve missed them. I wore them both more than once during May because I really like a good woven shirt: it looks much more put together than a normal jersey shirt while still being comfortable. I mentioned before that I often have problems with woven shirts in the shoulder area being to small or tight or whatever you call it. I can’t move my arms like I would like to do. Enter: the Emmeline Tee by Little Tailoress with its raglan sleeves.

Der Stoff meiner ersten Version ist von Blackbird Fabrics und 100% leichte, fließende Viskose. Fürchterlich zu schneiden, etwas weniger fürchterlich aber immer noch fürchterlich genug  zu nähen aber wunderbar zu tragen! 100% Viskose ist ausgezeichnet für leichte sommerliche Oberteile und Kleider. Für mein erstes Shirt habe ich natürlich die Raglanärmel-Variante gewählt. Ich habe Größe M genäht und den Schnitt etwa 5 cm verlängert, sonst keine weiteren Anpassungen. Die Größe wird ausschließlich nach Brustweite ausgewählt und es gibt leider keine weiteren Maßangaben, auch keine Angabe der Fertig-Maße, was ich eigentlich immer sehr schätze. Das Shirt passt zum Glück gut, aber nächstes Mal werde ich ein oder zwei Zentimeter Weite am Saum zugeben.

The fabric for my first version is from Blackbird Fabrics and it’s 100% light and flowing viscose. It was a remnant piece I bought in the Blackbird Fabrics sale back in February. Horrible to cut out, a bit less horrible but still horrible enough to sew but wonderful to wear! 100% viscose is excellent for light summer tops and dresses, if you didn’t already know that. For my first version I decided to make the raglan sleeve variation – of course! I made a size M and lengthend the shirt for about 5 cm (2″), no further alterations. You chose your size only by the bust measurement and sadly there are no finished measurments which I actually appreciate a lot. Luckily it fits well but next time I will add one or two cm at the hips.

Ich mag das Oberteil sehr und so kam eins  zum andern. Sagen wir es wie es ist: Ich bin durchgeknallt. Bei Stoffe Zanderino bin ich über diese beiden wunderbaren Swiss Dot Stoff gestolpert, leichte Baumwolle mit kleinen Knubbeln, schwer zu beschreiben. Und dann fand ich mich zufällig auf der Website von Fabric.com wieder, während ich nach weiteren Viskose-Stoffen mit schönen Mustern suchte und folgendes fand:

Von allen Stoffen bestellte ich also einen Meter bzw. ein Yard (was ca. 91 cm entspricht). Durch geschicktes Platzieren der Schnittteile auf dem Stoff war es kein Problem, selbst die Raglan-Variante aus den kurzen Stücken zu bekommen. Der schwarze Blumen-Stoff hat zufällig den gleichen Druck wie der blaue Blumen-Stoff von Blackbird Fabrics, was mir aber erst auffiel, als ich ihn zu Hause hatte. Und der schlichte schwarze Stoff ist das leichteste, luftigste, angenehmste Material, mit dem ich je gearbeitet habe. Bei dem Rautenmuster-Stoff habe ich einfach die linke Seite nach außen genommen, weil mir das melierte irgendwie besser gefiel.

I ordered one meter or one yard of each fabric and managed to squeeze even the raglan sleeves variation out of it. The flower fabric with black background has the same print like the blue one I bought at Blackbird Fabrics which I realized when after its arrival. And the plain black fabric is the most lightweight, airy, enjoyable fabric I’ve ever worked with. I used the slightly aztec patterned fabric wrong side out because I liked the marled black much more.

Da ich jeweils nur einen Meter Stoff oder weniger hatte habe ich gar nicht erst versucht, das Muster an den Ärmeln durchlaufen zu lassen. Bei der Jersey-Variante (siehe unten) hätte es vielleicht geklappt, wenn ich deutlich mehr Stoff gehabt hätte, aber so ist es auch okay für mich. Ich mag den Schnitt in Jersey ebenfalls sehr gerne.

Since I had only one meter or even less I had no chance to pattern match the fabric at the sleeves. It could have worked with the knit version (see below) but I’m fine with how it turned out. The pattern is great for knit fabrics too, I like the fit.

Also, ich nenne das Erfolg! Ein großes Loch in meinem Kleiderschrank ist gefüllt. Ich bin super glücklich mit allen Shirts. Und daher geht’s heute mal wieder rüber zu Helena’s Sew it Chic in a week. I call this a success! I filled a huge gap in my wardrobe and I’m super happy to have these tees that match great with a skirt and pants and that I can easily throw over in the morning without thinking to much.
